Hello all. I have reached out to a local dealer, but while I'm waiting for a call back I figured I'd try and explore all avenues. I have a tiger cub with the 19hp kawasaki FH601V-bs21. I believe the ol kawasaki has cut its last bit of grass. Its a shame but It's completely locked up. I was wondering if anyone else has replaced one of these engine recently. As it is an older engine I can't buy another fh601v, was looking for any advice for a direct replacement/very nearly direct replacement. Thanks fellas.

Current engine PTO specs.


The problem is none of the current Kawasaki engines has the same length that is 1-1/8 diameter. All are longer by over a 1/4 inch. They may work if the PTO end is not fully extended thru the PTO clutch or the crankshaft may need to shorten. I did not look at other OEM engines but the above specs are what you are looking for.

All the following engine are only slightly higher HP than the current engine.

Thank you! The main dilemma was figuring out which size my pto was. But after looking at the pto i found out it was 1.12 in diameter. The 730v is what I was looking at as I can get one for under 2k and it's a nice little bump in hp if it were a direct replacement. The pto is an Ogura GT 3.5-mc07. It also has the numbers 110519 on the sticker. I'm not sure if the crank goes thru the pto or stops in there.

From what i saw the 19hp FH580V-S35-S shows a 1 1/8" shaft diameter with a 3 15/16" length shaft. There were no diagrams just measurements listed in the description. I think this may be what I'm looking for. At the same time the FH680V-S32-S fits the same bill, but is a 23 hp and 500 more dollars. Would you agree the fh580 would be a fit?

Since I can't verify the actual spec on the crankshafts as neither engine is listed on the Kawasakit USA or EU sites.

Went a completely different way and ordered a 23 hp b&s vanguard that small engine warehouse says is a direct replacement for the tiger cub. Thanks for helping out man I appreciate it!
