just bought a used 2013 badboy 54 in b & s magnum mz. after 20 min belt smokes a bit and then wont steer or move. cools off and then it will drive

just bought a used 2013 badboy 54 in cut wi a b & s magnum mz. after 20 min belt smokes a bit, starts making noise (around arms not engine) and then wont steer or move. cools off and then it will drive again. manual says it is a sealed hydrostatic system. (that kinda sucks) pump belt pretty badly worn. will replace it asap, will bad belt cause pumps to malfunction. other stuff wrong with it but this is most major. any suggestions would be really appreciated
