John Deere L110 driveline problem

My L110 lawn tractor starts fine, but when the brakes are disengaged and I press the foot bar for the hydrostatic transmission, it barely moves. I have confirmed that the brakes are not locked and that the "free wheeling" lever remains fully pushed in (engaged) on the back. It reversed into the garage just fine 5 days ago, but now it will not creep over 1/2 mph and cannot even go over a 1 inch bump or 10 degree incline. It only has 267 hours on it, but it is over 10 years old. What do you suspect is wrong?
