I have replaced all the deck belts and pulleys and sharpened the blades. Motor runs great and has good compression. I have checked push rods and they are fine. I have replaced carb and battery as well as all filters.
The problem is that when I pull up on the mower switch it starts turning the blades and then shuts off the motor. I can try the switch for a few seconds and when I turn it off the motor picks back up if I don't let it die.
Need help figuring how to turn on this 48" deck....Thank you

Lets start with disconnecting the deck belt from the electric pto clutch and then start the mower and engage the pto switch and see if it stays running or still tries to die. This will determine if the problem is with the mower deck or possibly a safety switch shutting the engine down

My money's on the bad safety switch. If that proves to be the problem, don't just unhook it and start mowing without it. Very dangerous for a number of reasons . . .

Which safety switch are you referring to? RIO?
