Brothers and Sister of the Turf:

I have a oil pressure light on my JD 318. I changed the oil and cleaned the contact on what I thought oil sending unit. Started it, it runs great, not like a mower that is low on oil pressure, but the light was still on. Ordered the oil pressure sending unit based on the another post. Question where is the oil pressure and are their more than one? When I change the sensor should do a manual pressure gage?

What else should be looking at or should I bring it to the dealer?

The oil pressure sending unit should be very near the oil filter. It will be round, threaded into the block or oil filter mount neck, and will have one wire connected to it.

Thanks Mullins87

That's where I thought it was too. Any other advice?

If you have, or have access to an oil pressure guage, I'd install that thing at least temporarily to make sure it had oil pressure. It is entirely possible something has happened to the oil pump. Back to your problem though, when you cleaned that wire and connection, could you have moved it around and now it's shorting out on something? I'm almost 100% certain that sending unit works by grounding out when there is no oil pressure. The oil light has switched 12v power running directly to it and illuminates when the sending unit grounds. Check that wire before you go to the trouble of actually verifying oil pressure.
