I have a John Deere 185 that I let sit in my garage for several years after a mouse built a nest in it one winter and had packed a whole bunch of seeds in the air cleaner. I cleaned it all out but I must have missed a seed since it only ran a little bit and it died. It would blow air out the carburetor so I pushed it into the garage, removed the tin from the engine and got busy with something else so it sat there awaiting attention.
The White mower we have been using in the meantime broke so my attention turned back to the Deere.
Sunday afternoon I removed the valve cover so I could see the position of the valves, removed the spark plug and blew air back through the engine with the intake valve open.
The Kawasaki FC540V engine now runs like a champ if I pour a little gas down the carburetor but I think the diaphragm in the fuel pump has dried up and cracked in the meantime since I'm unable to get it to pump any fuel.
It has the old style pump, 070271.
Does anyone know if you can get a rebuild kit for that pump? I've been searching the internet and I've been unable to come up with one.
I suppose if I cannot fine a rebuild kit I'll put an electric pump on it like I did to my big Sears rider.
