John Deere #180 won't start through compression stroke

I haven't run it for 2 months. It wouldn't start, so I added a jumpstarter. It turns until it hits the compression stroke, and then stops. When I turn it by hand the the compression part seems really hard to turn through.

Is there something I can easily disassemble and clean / WD40?

Thank you

Remove battery & have it load tested at auto parts store. Your description of engine rotating is normal. Engine cold adjust valves. Post all numbers from engine.
See page 10 in Operators Manual.

What kind of numbers from the engine?
