I have this issue that I can not find an answer to. My starter is engaging the flywheel but all I get is a rattling sound. At times it will turn the flywheel but then stops a just rattles??????? any ideas??

make sure the battery connections are clean and tight. and also make sure the battery is good and 12v doesn't mean it is not failed.
I feel like an IDIOT...I went as far as buying a new starter and you were right it was the battery. Thanks for the insight. Next time I will ask before I spend 100 bucks that I can't get back.
