John Deere 100series riding Mower

I put a new fuel pump on it turns over but wont start. I spray starter fluid in it. It runs until the fluid is gone then cuts off. What could it be? Please help.

If there is an electric solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor, make sure it is working. This lets fuel into the metering jets to run the engine. If that solenoid isn't working, no fuel will get to the engine.
