Why does my john deer la130 die when I let off break.

It might be the seat safety switch. If not enough weight is applied to the seat, the lawn mower will shut down when the brake is released or the blades engaged (might depend on the mower). Check the connection for tightness, cleanliness, etc. For test purposes only, you can either depress the pressure switch button and secure it with tape and something solid between the button and tape or simply bypass the switch. Lift the seat, follow the wires to the seat and you'll locate the switch.
