JD X300 Kawi FH651V dies then won't start

So I'm at a loss here.
We start the mower, it rides and runs great for whatever length of time, it's inconsistent, but all of a sudden it sounds like I've come out of the seat and the seat switch has cut power. Sometimes it's just a second and then keeps running, but mostly it just dies. I'll still be able to turn on the lights, still get power to the dash to see my hour meter, and the starter can crank, but it isn't starting. I just replaced the fuel filter because the old one was decently clogged. I need to change the oil, I have replaced one of the coil packs about 3 years ago, but the symptoms seem different than when that issue was present.
I replaced the spark plugs last year. The mower has ~360 hours, and is about 12 years old (I think). The air filter doesn't look that bad. I have checked all connections and though I haven't put a meter on it, the battery seems strong as it's turning the motor over well. Can the plugs from NGK really be bad that quick? I can order some more but that just seems like it's too soon. I have 8 yr old NGKs in my Tahoe that function perfectly.

Test seat switch under seat with multimeter.
Can do! I'm at Fire School this week so it'll be next weekend. Hopefully I get enough ideas here that I can get it sorted next weekend.

I forgot to message back on here, but the seat switch may have been the problem, I unplugged it, and plugged it back in, never had the problem again after that.
on to a new problem lol

Hello kly5953,

It would help greatly if you could provide the product identification number off the machine label. JD had serial number breaks on these X300 riders. This machine could have had several wiring changes while being produced.

Check the fuel bowl after-run shutoff solenoid. They tend to have a problem with the harness connector pins spreading and wearing slightly due to age and vibration.

Has others have mentioned, check the seat switch, but also inspect all the wiring for any rub through areas.

Last but not least check all fuses and connectors by unplugging and reconnecting them. Often times this clears up mystery issues like this.

Auto Doc the OP has updated the thread before you posted and said it appeared to have a seat switch connector problem. Apparently you read thru the posts before replying.

There is only two US based wiring diagram and one export diagram in the 2011 technical manual.

One thing about the seat switch is that JD +12 vdc thru it so any loose connection can cause problem and F56 terminal are bad at loosing contact spring tension. Also these Delta switches tends to burn the contacts when a position voltage ran thru them. I have replaced multiple JD seat switches for loosing contact monetarily. It is an area that Delta can make an improvement on.

Hi StarTech,

The last reply by the OP was not there when I read through the thread, but I delayed hitting send because I was pulled away for a little bit.

Thanks just the same though.
