bought this mower at an auction and changed belts, cleaned up, lubed and changed carb intake filter.
my issue comes from engaging the mower and when i do it stalls out unless i do a quick flick on the choke and then it goes. it repeditively requires the quick flick of choke to get it engaged. All mower mandels work fine. btw its a 48" mower.
need some help to diagnosis what the problem is.
thanks in advance to take the time and help.

try clearing out the fuel system - drain fuel tank, clear fuel lines, replace fuel filter, clear out carb, what size/brand of engine is on the mower?
Yes, its a full throttle. Also the other suggestion about fuel. I've gone through the system and replaced fuel filter, tested fuel pump & fuel lines (all looks good). Carb today. Engine is a 17 hp Kawasaki, model FH500v.
Update: Got engine running like it should. Had cracked fuel hose (very slight) from the pump to the carb. Another hose on the carb was hard and barely making contact on stem coming out of top. Took carb apart and cleaned/blew out all ports.
However, :frown::frown: now have a new issue from the initial claim. Two related (I think) problems. When starting its required to push in clutch, after started and letting up the clutch, it immediately stops running. And, with a silight twist, does the same when I try to engage the mower with the clutch in.
Another update: by-passed clutch switch and solved one issue. a piece of wire solved one problem. One left, when engaging the mower it shuts down engine
Right on, that was the problem. Well, thanks to all. It looks like my issues are resolved. I love the interaction and being able to think out loud and solve problems in a team enviornment.
One last question regarding this lx277. on the top of the carb. there is a 45 degree metal receiver for a hose. What is it for and where does the other end of hose go? after shutting machine off a small drip comes out of the hose and stops in about 5 min. after shutting of machine
