JD LX172 - Which replacement carb do I need?

LX172 hasn’t been started in about ten years. Replaced the battery, added fuel, and engine turns over but won’t start. It’ll start and briefly run with starting fluid.
I figured the carb was all gummed up. I don’t want to mess with cleaning jets, just want to replace it. I bought one on eBay that was supposed to be a replacement for part#AM109291. The mounting studs on the LX172 are several millimeters too close for it to mount, so that’s obviously not the part I needed. Other than that, it looked perfect. There are others on eBay that don’t look very similar to mine. Is there some way to figure what part I really need? I can’t seem to find a part # on the old carb.
Thanks!

Post the engine numbers and we should be able to find the carb you need.

Of course it not going to fit. According hte IPls the LX172 has a Kawasaki FC420V engine and the AM109291 carbuetor is for a FC540V engine.

Nice! The listing indicated it would fit an LX172. Any idea what the correct part number would be???

Don't know the about the JD PN but the Kawasaki PN is 15003-2350. It may or may not be available. Kawasaki engine IPL look-up indicates NLA but my distributor indicates it still available.
