This tractor suddenly would not crank over to start. I suspect the PTO switch went bad. How can I check for a bad switch without replacing it with a new one?

Red neck way is unplug the PTO wire and put a bent paper clip there . Not for cutting grass but diagnosis purpose only !

Thanks for the tip. I've ruled out the PTO switch, the brake switch, the solenoid and starter as the problem. Still not running. Need to recondition power cable connections from battery to solenoid.
