Hopefully your mower is 475001 or later if so here is the instructions from the service manual. Also hope it not a LT160 which I don't have the manual for.
Thanks Star Tech, very helpful had the belt off in 20 minutes. I fooled with it several hrs yesterday and could not see the forest for the trees, after i read your post and saw your pics a light bulb went off duh what a dummy thanks again. Do you have any idea what the belt number is local dealer give me 2 belts and they were both to short ( but that was before i had the old one off)

Have tried loosening and moving the adjusting idler pulley? Someone already it for a longer belt and it now needs to be adjusted for a shorter belt.
The two belts you got should be M84075 and M89832. The M84075 should be 78-1/2" and the M89832 79-1/3". This what JD Parts are showing for the belts sizes. Now of course you might need a longer belt as JD have in the past gotten the belt sizes wrong here because someone subbed a pulley.
Thanks for reply, i got the belt off and there was a number on the belt and the JD dealer had one in stock belt # M83837 and is a little over 88 inches just for future reference in case someone runs into the same problem and thanks to you got the belt off and back on no problem
Thanks again, tink5610

Tnx for the info and as I said JD Parts is not always right as it don't cover every reversion sometimes.
