HI, I HAVE A B&S ENGINE 446777 0302 THAT CAME ON A CUB CADET LT 1024 . IT WAS BLOWING ALL OF THE OIL OUT THROUGH THE FILL TUBE I BELIEVE (MOWER IS ACTUALLY A FRIENDS AND HE TOLD ME THAT) ANY WAY IT'S MINE NOW AND I NEED TO FIX IT . IT RUNS GOOD ON ONE CYLINDER NOT SURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH OTHER CYLINDER HAVEN'T REALLY LOOKED . THE MAN AT A REPAIR SHOP OLD HIM THAT HE PUSHED THE PISTON DOWN AND IT WOULDN'T COME BACK UP. I GUESS I'M TRYING TO SEE IF IT NEEDS COMPLETE REBUILD AND IS IT WORTH RBUILDING. I KNOW IT NEEDS A NEW STATOR. FOR ALL I KNOW NOW IT MAY HAVE A BAD PLUG OR THROWN PUSH ROD OR COULD HAVE CRANK ROD BROKEN.IF SO IT ISN'T SOUNDING LIKE IT LIKE I SAID IT RUNS GOOD ON ONE SIDE. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN PURCHASE A MANUAL FOOR REBUILDING IF NECESSARY. PLEASE FILL FREE TO SHARE ANY OPIONS YOU HAVE . GUESS MAIN THING IS FINDING WHERE TO START. THANKS
Sounds to me like you have a variety of problems. Broken connecting rod on one side, blown head gasket on at least one side or both, and there could be more. Plus you also said you need a new stator. Is it worth rebuilding? Don't know the answer to that question until you open it up, plus pull both heads. Only you will be able to answer that question when you examine the insides. Who's going to do the rebuilding? If you take it into a shop, I'm guessing it will be 4-6 hours labor plus parts. This manual might help.
