Hi, just joined your forum, I have a couple of simple questions concerning the replacement of the hydraulic fluid in the Transmission, and/or Hydrostatic drive in a J.D. F932 front mount, (gas), mower.
The mower appears to have been poorly maintained. I purchased it from a Motorcycle - ATV dealer, not a J.D. dealer, (I think they took it in on a trade?) I asked the salesperson how to check the hydraulic fluid. He pointed beneath the mower to a small sight-glass with tubes running from each end, (and no fluid showing). He said he thought that's how it was checked? I noted that there was no fluid showing, he said that the mechanic had repaired a hydraulic leak & apparently forgot to refill the system. I asked him how to add or if I wanted to change the hydraulic oil in the system how do you refill it? He guessed you do it through the small overflow tank. Where's the dip stick?
Now that seems strange to me, to pour 4.6-qts. into a small overflow tank with a line that looks to be 1/8 - 1/4 I.D. to fill the system.
So here's my questions. (1). How do you fill the hyd. system. (2). Is the transmission & the hydrostatic drive one & the same, or is there two systems? (3). Does the hyd. filter require a 10 or 20 micron filter.
I test drove this mower for 10-15 minutes & it was very responsive & I was surprised at how fast it ran, there was no unusual sounds coming from the motor or the transmission. I just want to do a complete oil & filter change before I start using it.
I read a few threads on your forum & seen some of your members where familiar with this model, so if anyone could be of help or direct me else where It will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advanced. Stangit.
