InTek 19.0 burns oil after changing spark plug, oil & filter

The title says it all - I've done this many times over the years without a problem. I mowed for about 20 minutes and clouds of smoke emerged intermittently, sometimes thick, sometimes misty. I had run it briefly once or twice this year before I did the changes and it was OK. I don't think I overfilled it, but that is a possibility - I checked the oil level later and it was down a little. Help!

run it for a little bit, get it up to operating temp, shut it down, and then remove the dipstick, if you see whisps of smoke coming out of the dipstick tube, you probably blew a head gasket between the push rod galleys and oil is getting into the combustion chamber.

Not as common on the V twin Intek to blow head gaskets by the single cylinder Intek they are a dime a dozen for blown head gaskets as scrubcadet10 mentioned.

Yes, that test verified it

They had the gasket in stock at a local Weingartz, $20.
I followed the instructions here
Had to buy a feeler gauge and some permatex, probably total cost came close to $40.
Turned out to be a lot easier than I expected. Finished before the grass needed mowing again, no parts left over.

My plug before changing gasket last summer, believe it or not the mower ran fine. Was just checking plug since I was draining oil.
