Kind of a cool story. Back in 1993 my Dad purchased this mower and it was the first mower I ever used. It got passed over to my grandpa. At 94, he decided to stop mowing his own lawn. So, Dad asked if I wanted it and I said sure. Grandpa was good on maintaining it. Yearly maintenance, plus last year it had the transmission/drive replaced due to not functioning.
I am replacing all four wheels and either repainting or replacing the handle, as it is a bit beat up. Runs and starts like a champ. Better than my 4 year old B&S on the Craftsmen.
My question is:In terms of the transmission, is there any regular maintenance that needs to be done? I want to stay ahead of the curve on this. I want to keep using this mower for another 20 years.
Any other tips would be appreciated. Mulching blade replacement is up next. The only other issue I have is some staining on the deck from gas spills. Is it possible to remove these stains?
Thanks in advance.
