I can't seem to find specific information on an 8291 model mower.
Is it a worthwhile mower or one that might be subject to more than usual problems?
Metal carb? When were they made? Probable good condition worth?

You have a Model F powered machine manufactured 1984.
Is it a worthwhile mower or one that might be subject to more than usual problems?
Depends on how worn the mower is.
Generally speaking...if bearings are at all sloppy, engine may have seen better days and is asking to be scrapped.
It has a plastic carb which in itself is not necessarily a bad thing.
As far as worth goes... again depends on condition.
Others will chime in.

Thanks for the reply.
The plastic carb is all I need to know to keep searching for something else.
Our old motor bikes (metal carbs) all needed modern replacement floats, call "stay up floats" because of what our gas does to old plastic parts (floats in their cases).

I haven't had any issues with any plastic carbs to date.
My first experience with a plastic L-B carb was on a 1980 utility model 8601.
Engine had very high hours on it and was unbelievably reliable.
