Pros and cons, advice, pricing comments
I mow 1.25 acres, 75% which is on a steep grade.
I got some steep slopes and recently got a Husqvarna R322T AWD with a Combi 103 mowing deck.
I had looked at other 4 wd riding mowers but not could justify the high cost.
The Husqvarna R322T AWD retails for about $5200 w/48" side discharge or $5300 w/Combi 103.
It's hard to explain how well this machine can perform on sloped ground, so I've tried to find a video of the R322T mowing some slopes.
I didn't find a video of a R322T, but I did find a video of an articulating AWD mower being used on a steep slope.
The machine in the video is a Jonsered FR2216MA2 with a Combi 103 mowing deck which is almost the exact machine as my Husqvarna R322T AWD.
Front and back transmissions are the same for both machines but the Husqvarna R322T's engine has a little more HP.
These two Tuff Torq transmissions share the load rather than only one transmission which is common on most riding mowers.
There is the rear K574 transmission and the front KTM 10 L, and I liked the fact they are
serviceable, (with a replaceable transmission oil filter and the oil can be changed too).
So with proper preventative maintenance and each of the two transmission only required to work half as hard as a tractor which only has one transmission, longevity for this machine looks very promising.
The video does a pretty good job in showing what the articulating AWD mower can do on slopes.
