Ignition issues!!

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with some ignition issues on my old Suffolk Punch Mower. The coil seems to be okay and so is the HT lead but the points are not giving the correct resistance. When they're open, they give almost the same amount of resistance as when they are closed. However, if you remove a wire connecting them to the points, the points give loads of resistance when open!

any ideas welcome!!

Thanks in advance,

Hi BlazNT

Do you mean replace the entire ignition system? As this is not particularly cheap (about £30) considering I bought the entire mower for only £25!

Thanks,

I should have been clearer in my head and my typing. Change the points and condenser. That should only be a few pounds. $3.00 or $4.00 each US money.

abel, Why do you think the coil is ok? Also have you metered the HT lead while bending it around? Do you know if HT is twisted wire or carbon pregnated?
