Hi, I need some help identifying an old Lawn Boy mower. All ID's seem to have been stripped. I know it's a 2 cycle mower, quite old. It won't start, carb has been cleaned and ignition is ok. Now I need to fit the correct spark plug. From some research, it appears to be a D-600 which would call for a Champion CJ-14 spark plug. Any help will be appreciated.

Things here are a bit confusing so I’m going to make some assumptions, which I shouldn’t do. First, the engine looks like one used on a Lawn Boy model R7268, but those mowers had a cast deck, not a stamped steel deck. Second, that style deck were mostly used on Brick style Lawn Boy units. Third, the engine looks like a model F101. Fourth, with those three assumptions it leads me to believe that you have a DIY cobbled unit. F101 engines used a champion RJ12C plug. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your insight. Very helpful and I believe you are right, it's an ''F'' engine. Since I posted my question, I found a video explaining the difference between a D-400, D-600 and the ''F'' and it supports your conclusion. So I will go from there. BTW, since English is not my primary language, what is the meaning of ''a cobbled unit''? A ''mixed unit''? Best (y).

Hello,
I have had 3 different mowers with decks just like yours except not so dark green. I am guessing that yours is early eighties. A pre compliant mower, blade control handle
I think they made the f-100's from 1978 to 1982. Then they started putting metal walbro carbs on a lot of F engines. All the steel decked mowers that I owned were from 1987.
Lawn Boy was famous for their aluminum decks but I liked the steel decks too. They were very light and easy to push. I agree with Rivets. It looks like it could be a
Frankenstein mower.
