Hydrostatic drive problems ?

Have model YTA18542 , this just started happening, when changing from reverse to forward mower stays in reverse until you push on the brake pedal. Never had this problem before. Any help greatly appreciated.

Not a hydrostatic transaxle, It is a CVT transaxle. Actually a General Transmissions RS800F. Probably needs the top of the unit cleaned of debris or one of two springs is missing. It also can be a broken driver variator.
