Have a leaky check relief valve, HG70743. Dont see any instruction on replacement, looks like can just remove it without disassembling the pump. Am I seeing this correct?

Thanks.

should be able; though, depending on placement you need to remove the pump. The SM says disassemble the pump but I am pretty sure you just remove the check valve assembly. Also note the replacement may look different as it has been updated so if your pump has the updated one it is a wrench instead of a hex wrench for removal.

One thing of note check the bypass valve o-rings as they harden and start to leak. Just had to do a partial pump on a Super Z a couple weeks ago because of this.

Also if you remove the charge pump cover watch out the steel ball and spring as they can get lost easily. One other thing on the charge pump cover they used 5/16 Hex Screws (1/2 hex), may find hard to get off and then if you can go back with 5/16-18 x 1 - 12 point screws. Much easier to install and torque. Replace the o-ring if cover is removed.

Thanks StarTech,

The old vs. new valve are quite different looking. Old appears to be one piece, new one doesnt appear to have the same valve seat. You can see in 2nd photo the seat area, appears to have been overtightened.

That is the bypass valve not the check valve. Hence the hole thru it for a rod to the open and close the bypass. It is also has a 5/8 hex for a wrench. it has a o-ring and a split square shoulder ring.
