hydro transmision fluid

hi I brought by mtd around 2.5 years ago second hand I have not changed the fluid myself and no idea when it was last changed do you even need to change it? I defiantly need t top it up as the level has slowly gone down over the years. What oil do you use for this any help appreciated t:smile:hanks
