Hustler Fastrak 60 new owner

Hi guys, I just bought a Hustler Fastrak 60 with the Kawasaki motor. 30 minutes into my first mow, it burned up the PTO bearing. I saw smoke and the engine shut down, thought I'd smoked the motor, but upon investigation by the dealer, he found the PTO was the problem. They replace the whole module with a new one and I'm back at it mowing again. I like the mower, it's my first ZTR. I'm just wondering how common a manufacturing defect such as this is?

Thanks,

Jeff

there is a possibility PTO clutch was not burnished before you took delivery of machine.

Thanks for the reply and the info on that. It seems to be working well after they replaced. I'll ask them about the burnishing when I go to get some oil change supplies next week.

Glad you got that fixed, something like that right off the bat can give you buyers remorse. Of course you should be running the engine about 2/3-3/4 full throttle when engaging the PTO, and never engage it while on grass.
