Husqvarna Z248F belt problems..

Has anyone found a solution for the ongoing belt issues with this mower? Since my customer bought it new in 2019, it has broken 3 to 4 belts each season. It seems to have a pulley alignment problem: the center blade pulley is lower than the idler pulleys, causing the belt to wear as it transitions. The tensioner pulley rides low and appears to be damaging the top of the belt, and I suspect the deck lift bar might also be interfering. Any insights or remedies would be greatly appreciated!

Can you add a spacer or such to level out the pulleys? Got to be some way to line the belt up better.

Stop throwing new belts on it without lining up the pulleys. That is pretty silly. Fix the issue. If you don't have the tool, make one.

Make sure the deck has all the parts it's supposed to have.

Take some pictures and post them here so we can see what you are working with. Videos even better.........

Causes for continued belt breaking. In no specific order.
1. Wrong size belt.
2. Belt not routed properly.
3. Incorrect belt tension.
4. Bad tension arm.
5. Pulleys not aligned properly.
6. Debris getting caught in between pulleys and belt.
7. Bad spindle bearings.
8. Loose spindle Housings.
9. Corroded pulleys.

If this has been going on since new, it should have been resolved under warranty by authorized repair shop. 5 years out is a little late for that. If you haven’t been able to solve the problem on your own over five years, I would recommend you take it to a good repair shop instead of throwing more money at it.

A PTO deck belt should last a minimum of 3-4 years if everything is correct. You need to go through every single pulley, etc. until you find the problem. Also, try calling the manufacturer or other people you know in the business for suggestion. Plan B is tell the customer to take it to another shop to rectify the problem. Replacing 4 belts each year isn’t the answer obviously. How is the belt breaking? Is it a clean snap, or is it shredded?
