This seems a fairly common issue but I haven't yet solved the problem. Mower starts easily and runs strong for at least 20 mins and often I can cut my grass w/o any problem. When it starts to die I can usually get it back to my shop using the choke and reducing speed. I believe it is gas related since the fuel filter is empty if I run it until it cuts off.
Engine is a 25 kohler command with less than 400 hrs.
I have replaced the fuel filter, siphoned all gas from tank to check for debris and water (clean), and checked hose from tank for obstructions. Also checked vent in gas cap and also tried removing cap.....no change.
I think it likely fuel pump or pickup in tank. Since it runs great until filter empties pulling carb line from pump and checking flow won't really mean much. If I check it when gas is in filter i think it would check out ok since that is when it runs perfectly.
When I blow air back into tank it bubbles and gas runs out freely.
HELP! I'm about to start changing parts............
