The Briggs engine is a train wreck. I've replaced the sump gasket once and now it has a bad ring in the left cylinder. The engine model is 44Q777-3137-G5. I would like to replace this engine with a Kohler but I can't find any type of cross reference chart. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?
Unless you want to do a major chassis and control overhaul to your unit, you won't be able to do what you want to do. Why? Different muffler, wiring, controls, and you might even have to change the pulley. Can it be done, yes with a lot of work. Is there a cross reference, no you will have to cross it yourself by going through engine specs.
