Is this a dirty carb situation or are their other underlying issues? Either way what all should I do to try to get it running again. I also have a Homelite that is doing the same thing.

With small 2 stroke engines, it is easy to see the condition of the piston and cyl by removing the muffler and looking into the exhaust port. Before that though, check to see that you have AT LEAST 85-90 psi compression. If you don't NWR (not worth repair) well I take that back. ( I still had Roybi on my mind) Husqvarna cyl & piston kits are re$onable.

If the trimmer bogs or is down on power or doesn't run smoothly at its max RPM try pulling the Spark Arresting screen in or on the muffler and clean the screen. They get heavily carbonized and create low power. Try it first before messing with carb. I just did the same thing today on my Stihl. It sounds like your problem.
