My husqvarna ZTR mower has 3 spindle housings made of alluminum for the blades and they are degrading from what I assume is the grass clippings that get stuck to them. I am replacing all 3 but want to keep these in good condition. I tried paint on the last ones and that did not hold up. Any sugestions?

theres a company called KBS coatings that makes a product called rust seal. ive been using it on fender wells and bottom side of motorcycle fenders for a while now. pretty good stuff. pretty durable. RustSeal - Rust Prevention - Stop Rust Paint

I have never seen one "degrade" to ever be a problem, but you could coat them with a graphite paint coating that they use on car haulers, nothing much would stick to them then.
