I recently purchased a second-hand Husqvarna LC19 with a briggs and stratton engine on it.
It was in bad shape when I got it not running. I did a heap of things to get it running but still running a bit rough.
Symptoms:
- Rough idle - Adjusting carburettor screws seems to do nothing, Idle screw does nothing fuel mixture screw spinning if not fully tightened.
- Running rich, fuel smell.
- Carbon on spark plug
- Hard to restart when hot
What I've done
- New pull start
- Fresh Penrite 10W30 Oil
- New spark Plug
- New Air Filter
- New Carb and gaskets
- New Blades
Cuts ok, struggles a bit through the thicker grass.
Any idea what the issue could be? it's a great mower and would love to keep it running.
Change the oil before running again. Gas in the oil will cause engine damage because it effects lubrication, but the fumes that are released and drawn through the breather system are drawn directly into the engine and will cause a rich running issue, which you are describing.
