I have a older (1997) Husqvqrna 22L line trimmer that I have rebuilt. I replaced the piston assembly (piston, rings, wrist pin and bearing). I also replaced the carbuetor with a new one. I can't get it to run!! The limiter caps have been removed from the jets, and I have misplaced them. I can get it to start and by playing with the choke I can keep it running. If I release the choke it revs up, then stalls out as if it is not getting gas or been choked. For initial set up, where should the jets be set? I started at 1-1/4 turns out on both the high and low, but I got nowhere! Should I back the "T" screw all the way off? Thanks for your help!

Sounds like it is not getting enough fuel. Some of the newer 2 cycles may run as much as 2 1/2 turns out. So keep adjusting them out and see what happens.

Thank you for your reply! This is a 15 year old machine but rebuilt. It has the original fuel filter (new one on order), but I cleaned it real good and it seems to be working ok. I replaced the fuel line, but can only get the yellow line, which to me seems to have a much smaller ID than the original clear tubing. Could the smaller ID of the fuel line be causing fuel restriction?

The fuel requirements shouldn't be that heavy where a line restriction would be the problem. Would have to be a very small passage. I have seen fuel filters have more restriction than what a person would think. Can you blow through it, or get carb cleaner to go through the filter.

Yes, I can blow through it, but with difficulty. I have a new one ordered, should be here today or tomorrow.

Very strong spark. I will wait untill new fuel filter arrives and try again. I will report back.
