husqvarna 141 chainsaw

we are now working on a husqvarna 141. it wouldnt start, we cleaned carb, new fuel line and filter, put a new carb kit in it, and spark plug. it now runs for a few seconds but gas drips on the piston. if the wrong size needle valve spring was installed, would this cause it? if not, then what to check next?
