I did notice after trying different orientations of piston, when I set it to top of shaft seems to run worse or not start at all.
Is there a correct piston position on this engine/model? If so, is that position mostly universal for these small engines?
PS:
I've read through the: "Husqvarna 128LD Will Not Stay Running" thread and gathered it could be the aftermarket spark plug causing the issue since my issue is exactly the same.

If you are referring the recoil starter it doesn't matter. As engine always stops in a random position.
And most after market plugs for the Champion RCJ8Y are usually good new but any plug can fail strangely. Most important when you starting problem is for the compression to be above 100 psi for a 2 cycle.
I'm referring to the actual piston in the engine cylinder.
You can spin the wheel where the pull string attaches which will change the piston position. I've heard on vehicles it's supposed to be top-dead on cyl1 for something (been a while and I'm a noob mechanic). Figured the same might apply to small engines as well.
I don't know specific terms, I'm guessing "recoil starter" is what I'm calling "pull string unit". Which means you're stating it doesn't matter. If that is the case, then that answers my question and my problem has nothing to do with piston position.

Piston position is not relevant to pull string position.. it's not timed that way.
