HRX217 Very Hard to Pull Start

Mower starts and runs fine, but is very difficult to pull start. What is the likely cause and fix for this?

If it has the gcv160 engine, they are known for the exhaust rocker arm to crack and give when it should be opening the exhaust valve.
If thats not the case, I would check your valve clearance.

I acquired a Honda with a similar problem, the clutch was clogged with grass.
