I purchased the HRX217 earlier this spring from Home Depot (and yes, it had a Green Dot on the box) and it worked well at first. I would easily start, usually with less than a full pull as all Honda’s should. Later in the summer, it would take at least two pulls to start it. As early fall began, it would now take at least 3 pulls to start. Yesterday, it took 5 pulls from a cold start.
Once the mower started and ran for a few minutes, it would easily start again with 1 pull. I checked the choke in closed position when cold and is closed and opened when warm-again everything appears to be normal. I suspect it might be the carburetor causing the problem. When I tipped up the right side of the mower slightly to adjust mowing height position, gasoline leaked from the carburetor something my HRR216 doesn’t do when slightly tipped.
Could the carburetor be the problem or am I missing something? I realize it has a 5 year warranty but if it as easy fix, I’ll do it myself.
Thanks for any insight into my problem.
