Self propel drive will not pull mower when in 2nd or 3rd. It will pull its self in first. When lifted of the ground the wheels will spin when in 2nd or 3rd but they stop when I put it down on the ground. I tried adjusting the cable once and it worked for a few months now its back to doing the same old thing. Another cable adjustment or might it be something else. I am aware of the service bulletin that Honda put out addressing this issue but I don't think mine has the correct model number. Mine is 7244697I don't think my mower qualifies as one needing service bulletin. any help or advice would be appreciated.

First, make sure when moving the change cable, the arm (yellow here) is moving at the same time. If not, the cable may be stretched, binding, or loose. Once you can confirm the cable is moving the arm consistently, check for a worn or loose belt, clean and grease the axle shafts and drive gears, remove any string, wire, debris, clippings, etc. If all that still does not resolve the issue, it is possible there is an internal fault with the transmission, and it may require replacement. There are no internally-serviceable parts available, just a new trans. assembly.
