I was looking at http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/honda-forum/9015-honda-hrm-215-no-self-propelling.html because yesterday my clutch broke.
Great Information !!!!
My Honda is HRM215K3 HX and my cable is broken at the transmission (cable holder).
I have ordered 54510-VE2-306 and I was wondering :
1) it is possible to reinstall the cable without taking apart wheels and transmission? I have access to the transmission thru the "transmission cover - cutter housing".
2) how is the cable installed in the "Cable Holder arm", I cannot picture how the cable goes ??

Thank you,

Mauro

The shop manual does not have a specific procedure to just change the cable, but here are two pages that outline how to R&R the transmission, which include the cable disconnect. Hope this help a bit. -Robert@Honda

Thank you Robert for the pictures.
Since the trans is up -side-down and the mower is at least 10 years old, should I bleed the trans and refill?

I forgot to mention, the second picture shows clearly how to insert the cable. Unfortunately i have HRM215K2HX and the pictures are sd/sx model.

Okay, in the first message, you say you have an HRM215K3, and the K3 was only made in an SD/SX version, but now you say you have a K2 HX version, so which is it? K2 HX or K3 SD/SX? Let's get the serial number off the back of the mower deck to be sure, as there are totally different procedures and service bulletins for the SD/SX and HX. I want you to have everything you need for this. The serial number is in the form of MXXX-1234567 and is on the back of the mower deck.

Robert sorry for the typo !!!

This is what I know, the mower is : HRM215K3 HX - Hydrostatic, blade stops when handle is released
This is what you have requested - Serial is : MZBB-6404815

Hope this clear the misunderstanding,

Mauro

I spoke with our mower model engineer, and he says you really need the change cable, which is part number 54630-VE1-J11

If you need more help, let me know, but he's confident that will resolve the problem.

Robert@honda - I think i have the same issue, can you confirm that this is the correct part of deck serial of mzba-6324547? Thanks.

Yes, your HRB uses the same cables as the HRM.
