Hi,

My Honda Harmony 215 lawn mower needs the rear wheels replaced. It is an HRB215 (possibly SDA model). The serial number is: MZBA-6236711. I believe that makes it a "K2" model.

I have found two models of tires that are advertised for the HRB215: the 42710-VE2-M00ZA and the 42710-VE2-800.
The designs look a little different; however sizes seem to be the same from pictures. The 42710-VE2-M00ZA is also cheaper, at about half the cost of the latter from any comparison.

Is the gear size the same? Would I be able to use the 42710-VE2-M00ZA on my lawn mower?

Thanks!

That part number is for slightly newer models (K3 and K4 versions). Per the parts catalog, they are not correct for your older (K2) model.

Looking at the illustration, it appears the gear/teeth are different, but the pinion gear that drives them is the same for all K0~K4 models.

I've sent a message to the model engineer and asked if they are compatible....hang on.

Okay, the answer is YES.

The new-style K3-K4 wheels/tires 42710-VE2-M00ZA will indeed fit and work fine on older K0-K2 mowers just fine.

The original K0-K2 wheels/tires 42710-VE2-800 are semi-pneumatic and made from real rubber, thus very costly.

42710-VE2-M00ZA tires are made of PVC (much less costly).

Thank you Robert! I have asked around and no one had this detail. I am ordering the newer tires in a set tonight! Thanks again!

Any idea on what less expensive PVC front wheels would work on the HRB215K2? I tried 44710-VL0-L02ZB but they are not a good substitute. The 42710-VE2-M00ZA are a perfect substitute for the rear wheels. Thanks for any insight.

Necro-post here, but I'm glad this information is out on the internet. I have been using an old HRB215 for a few years now. Wonderful old mower, burns a little oil, but starts and runs great. One of the rear tires split at the end of this season and I've been looking for replacements. The original parts were going to be something like $120 for a pair of rears! The newer designed parts were about $35. Considering I only paid $50 for the mower used, I didn't really want to put $120 wheels on it. Thanks to Robert@Honda for the post way back!
