Greetings! Last week I picked up this find. I seen a local ad for it, no picture with it saying "runs with starting fluid". So I went to check it out, could not get it to start. Tried the starting fluid and it sputtered for 1-2sec and died. I shot him an offer and he accepted. Even delivered it to my house.
Here is it, a HRB215 (I think the full model is HRB2152SXA) it is in pretty good shape aesthetically. No damage that I was able to see.
I suspect the issue is the carb so we're going to pull it.
Remove this choke idler spring wire (not sure what its proper name is)
The slide off the fuel line after you have turned the fuel valve to the off position
You are now able to slide the carburetor off a little bit, Next thing to do is the choke wire. Pull the carburetor out enough that it lines up with the groove in the plastic
The simply pull up and it should pop off
The slide it almost all the way off and you shoulod be able to get the throttle bracket wire off. Get it as close as you can to this point and with a little convincing, it should slide right out
DISASSEMBLY (these are of the parts already cleaned)
1 x 10mm bolt holding the bowl on. Once that is removed you can remove the float. Use an aull or similar to remove the pin holding the float in place
Then remove the float pin
Next is the main jet. This was rusted out and required PB Blaster and some time. I almost stripped it. I eventually got it out
Once the jet is out, you can push the other piece down with an aull or allen wrench

Reassembled and it fired right up! Quite nice purr. No smoke or anything. I found that the belt slipped off of the pulley for the transmission after it wasn't working
