What is the difference between the Micro Cut blade package sold at Home Depot and the individual blades at a power equipment dealer? The HD blades seem to cut a bit shorter?

Many of the over the counter blades are a bit shorter and thinner than OEM. On the other hand many of us have got suppliers who have blade which we feel are equal or better than the OEM. You just have to look carefully at what you buy.

Are over the counter blades stamped to verify it's a Honda part?

No, the only thing you might see is made to fit "..... Trademarking does not allow this.

If they are in Honda packaging with Honda part numbers, they are probably genuine Honda blades. I've never seen any counterfeit ones, FYI. Beware of any blades that say they "fit" Honda or "compatible" with Honda. These are not made or endorsed by Honda.

The Honda-packaged blades sold at Home Depot are identical as the ones sold at Honda dealers. The only difference is some blades at Home Depot are packaged into a single retail-shelf-friendly box, with 2 blades inside, while many Honda dealers provide them as individual parts (1 blade per package). Prices should be about the same, but every dealer set their own price.

If you'll share the serial number off the back of your HRB's mower deck, I can get you specific part numbers for replacement blades (and list prices). The serial number is in the form of "MXXX-1234567"

The serial # of the mower is MZBA 6344509. Thanks for your help. This mower has been great. I wish it would cut at 3.5 inches or higher though.

For the Honda HRB215, here are the blade details; the service guys determined which blade(s) work best for each type of mowing:

For the best bagging performance, stick with the original blades:
Upper, 72531-VE2-020
Lower, 72511-VG4-020

For best mulching performance, use the original upper, and this lower:
Lower, 72511-BG4-K00

Notes:
* For structural strength and best cut quality, always install both blades; never install just a single blade.
* Disconnect the spark plug cap and turn the fuel valve to OFF before working on the mower.
Wear heavy gloves when working around the blades. Use a block of wood to hold the blades under the mower deck so you can loosen the blade bolts. Always use the original washers and bolts.
* A torque wrench is required to properly tighten the blade bolts; set it to 36~43 lb-ft.

Any Honda dealer can get blades for you. Most Home Depot stores stock them as well. Suggested retail price for each blade is $12.98, but actual selling price is at the sole discretion of the dealer.
