my honda hr215 hma quit self propelling. There was no oil showing on the dip stick. I added 2 ounces and dip stick reads full. I need to how to bleed the transmission. I understand there is an involved process to do this. there were no sign of a oil leak anywhere on the transmission. It was working when I put it away in the fall. I'm sure it needs more oil than i put in.

If the HST fluid leaked out, you need to resolve that before just refilling and bleeding. So I'd suggest Step 1 to determine why the fluid level was so low (where did it go) and resolve that.
The procedure pugaltitude shared is for a different Honda model (HRX) that uses a different HST than the one in your older HR215 model.
If you're going to try and do a proper repair / troubleshooting, you will really want the factory shop manual for this job. There are a dozen pages alone for the the full repair and service of the HST for this mower.
