Remove grill and hood, lay off side. 3/8 socket. 4 bolts
Remove muffler, three 5/16" nuts-1/2" 6 point socket, PB Blaster is a must. Remove header pipe,. Could be a Torx or allen. PB Blaster helps
Remove bolts in center of clutch, 5/8" 6 point, Nice to have a 3/8" impact gun.
Unplug wires and slide off crank. PB Blaster helps. You may need to tap with a small hammer to get started to move.

Clear and concise. Thanks.

Edit: Today, the demise of the PTO clutch may have been premature. Turns out, even though it's worn, the immediate problem was in the ignition switch. It's the last of the OEM switches and it's gone TU. I'll replace it with a heavy duty toggle switch with Off, On, Momentary On and crimp on ring terminals.

The MTD switches all failed one after the other. They just aren't weatherproof or reliable. The good news is the machine now has hardly any wire left to fail.
