Can rpm's on a two cycle Lawn Boy be measured with an automotive tach/dwell meter?

I tried tonight...couldn't come up with any way that I could figure...my meter starts with 3 cyl goes up to 8...thought I could do math on the 4 cyl setting but couldn't get a reading that made sense.

Most Automotive Tachs will not work on a small engine.

I'm sure that there is a tool that measures mower RPMs by being held against a rotating surface..
The older machines had a rope start. This hub could also be used to start a mower engine using a 1/2" drill motor... I think I had one, onces, years ago....A useless antique today...

Please read this thread, it shows a simple tach that many of us use.

Treysit
Now if I can talk the LB into running for more than 3 seconds....
In conjunction with a computer, a device than can measure vibrations would be a God-send.
