I was recently mowing my backyard when I hit a stump and bent one of the cutters on the bottom of the mower, I flipped it on its side and ordered a new one on Amazon. I put the new one on and noticed that while the Lawn mower was on its side, some oil had leaked out from somewhere inside the mower. I now tried to start my mower and it wont start, just a lot of smoke comes out of the exhaust. Please help, anythign is appreciated.

did you leave it tipped up till the part came in thats a long time and did you tip it with the carb up or down if down then you more then likely have oil in the carb and you need to remove the plug and crank it over a few times clean the air filter and put in a new plug see if that works always tip the mower with the carb up and never leave it tipped over once done working on it set it back up right

You may have sheared the flywheel key which would knock your timing off and cause a non start.
When you pull the starter rope, does it feel like its going to yank out of your hand?

That will happen with many types of mowers if you tip it so the LEFT side is down. This is the carburetor side, and it has a large hose that connects to the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. Turning the LEFT side down will cause oil to drain down the hose into the carburetor area. The engine then draws this oil into the intake and when it tries to ignite what it expects will just be gasoline and air, it gets some oil, and volia! Instant smoke screen, as well as a probably fouled spark plug.

Turn the fuel valve to OFF.
Disconnect the spark plug cap.
Remove the air cleaner and filter and clean out any left over oil.
Install a new filter if the old one is ruined or soaked heavily with oil.
Check all around the carburetor too, and clean away any oil.
Remove the spark plug. If it is not dry and clean, replace with a new one.
Add regular 10W-30 oil as needed to get it back to the right level on the dipstick.
