Honda mower starting issues - blade control issues

Hi there...I'm new to this forum and did not search the entire forum just yet. My Honda mower has been working fine...until today. I tried to pull start it and nothing...until now, it would start...reliably...with a single pull. Haven't checked much just yet but fuel is fine...recently topped up but was good fuel. Anything simple I may be missing? Did not check yet to see if the plug wire was seated properly...I guess that's really the first place to start. If you have a sequence of things I should check first, I'd appreciate that. Any particular web sites that are good to help here would also be welcomed. Thank you.

You are not getting spark or gas or both.

Pull your spark plug and see how it looks
Do you know how to see if you have spark?

If you have spark...put a teaspoon of gas in air cleaner hole and see if it will start.
