I've cleaned both left and right Ratchets. I used to lock when making turns to the left. After cleaning it now locks when pulling straight back. Forward is fine. Starts great. I'll replace the ratchet if that is what it takes but I want to make sure this is the problem. Any help is appreciated. Diane007

OK, Left wheel rotates freely forward and sluggish backward, Right wheel rotates freely forward and backward. (not sure I replied in the forum correctly since I didn't get a reply, My bad I'm sure)

Generally the symptoms you are describing are indicative of worn rear axle bearings. It's fairly common on these mowers as they are not sealed bearings. The grease collects dust and dirt and over the years the bearings fail. You might pull the wheels and check the condition of the axle bearings. You'll find them pressed into the adjuster with the axle runnin through them...
