Honda Hrx 476 cqxe drive belt

Hi all

New here.
I am trying to replace the drive belt but after removing the plastic shield tray to get access to the drive shaft/clutch I'm unable to undo the centre bolt as it just rotates with the rest of the engine as if it's trying to start.

I need to stop it spinning so I can undo the centre bolt.

I have removed the blade but as it spins with the flywheel I can't remove to get access to the pulls/belt.

I have looked at YouTube but they seem to have either not the same mower or have no problem with it all turning together.

I've noticed dish the side there is a notch in the metal wheel which may be how you brake it to stop rotating??

Any help appreciated.

Hello, the simple way to stop the engine from turning is to remove your spark plug and post a length of clean pull start quality cord down the spark plug hole ,you may need to push a foot or more into the hole making sure you have plenty on the outside to pull on when you are finished. Gently turn the engine over until the piston meets the bundle of cord and locks the engine . this should be enough but if not you may have to post a bit more .This seems to work for me .Gary
